Client Overview

SuperLock 4.5 Pro Client (Client) is the heart of SuperLock Pro, and the part with which users interact most. It is automatically launched on startup and can be manually launched from the Apple Menu, from the Finder, or via a hot key. It can even be configured to launch automatically after a period of inactivity (see Security).

When Client launches, the desktop and all background windows are hidden from view, as is the control strip. Application switching is disabled, as well, effectively locking Client in control of the machine. A window similar to the following appears:

Client Main Window

This is Client's main window. The text block near the top of the window is the Display Text, and is customizable from Admin (see Client Prefs: Text Items). The Name field is where users enter their username, and the Password field is where users enter their password. Users must enter their password every time, but the last-used username can optionally be automatically entered or selected from the optionally-displayed User menu (shown); see Client Prefs: Username for details.

Clicking on the Help button brings up the following window:

Client Help Window

This is the Client Help window. The sole purpose of this window is to provide users with additional information that couldn't be fit into the Display Text area--perhaps a phone number of someone to contact if emergency access is needed, or the person to contact to be added as a user, or ... whatever is needed. The text in this dialog is customizable; see Client Prefs: Text Items.

Once a valid username and password has been entered, click the OK button to return to the Finder. To keep startup items from loading at this point, hold down the command key while clicking OK. (This feature must be turned on; see Editing Users
