SuperLock Pro has a feature wherein you can play a sound whenever an unauthorized user attempts to log in. But what about when an authorized user successfully logs in? Using SuperLock Pro's starup items feature, you can play a sound then, too!

Essentially, you want to create a System 7 Sound file, and add it as a startup item to each user's profile that wants a login sound. To create the sound, follow these steps:

  1. Open the control panel that you use to set your alert sound preferences. Depending on what version of Mac OS you're using, this control panel may be called "Sound" or "Monitors & Sound".
  2. Click the Add button located near the list of alert sounds. A recording dialog appears.
  3. Click the Record button (the circle) and record your sound into your microphone. Click Stop (the square) when you're finished.
  4. If you're satisfied with the sound, click the Save button and give the sound a name.
  5. The sound will be saved and added to the list of alert sounds. Because this new sound is automatically selected as you're alert sound, change the selection back to the one you had previously.
  6. Close the control panel.
  7. Switch back to the Finder and open your System Folder, then open the file called "System" that's inside it. This is your System file; it has a suitecase as an icon.
  8. Inside your System file, you will see a list of sounds, keyboard layouts, and other things. Locate the sound that you just recorded, and drag it to the desktop or another convenient location.
  9. Close your System file.

Alternatively, you may use nearly any sound recording program, or convert a prerecorded sound to the System 7 Sound format. (For conversion chores, we recommend the freeware utility SoundApp.)

Once you have your sound, use Admin to assign the sound file as a startup item to any users you wish. For more information on assigning startup items, please see the SuperLock Pro documentation.
