FlightMath
Incorrect Airport Elevations in v2.1

Manifestation

FlightMath 2.1 shows incorrect elevation data for some airports.

Discussion

FlightMath retrieves station weather data from NOAA, which obtains the data from the individual stations. Unfortunately, some airports do not include their elevations in the data they submit. FlightMath, expecting that a datum for elevation will always be included, tries to read in the missing value, and errantly reads in a geographic coordinate instead. Thus, the value reported for elevation for these airports is incorrect.

This problem primarily appears to affect smaller airports, and it may be intermittent.

Solution

FlightMath 2.2 detects when an airport's elevation value is missing, and will not return a value in that case. FlightMath 2.2 is a free and recommended upgrade for all FlightMath 2.x users.
